I built my first wheel in 1984, and by ’95 was pretty good at it.  I’ve spent the years since honing my craft and building wheels I’ve been pretty proud of. A few cyclists, friends, and customers took notice and urged me to take things a bit farther, and together we are excited to present Verum Velo, home to what we feel are the finest bicycle wheels we can build, and perhaps the best you can find anywhere at any price.

Verum Velo is born of a frustration with compromise. I have always endeavored to build the best possible wheels with the finest components available, but found that most high-end rims were lacking important features.  We’re located in sunny Southern California, so our customers ride all year-round and our wheels see a lot of miles, both in training and competition. We’ve learned from our clients what’s fast and what lasts, and that the two are not mutually exclusive. Our wheels are the products of the things we value most; namely performance, reliability, and serviceability.  In particular, we believe that reliability is an oft overlooked performance feature. If you agree, you’re in the right place.

There are no bean counters here at Verum Velo, only wheel builders. The craftspeople here all follow the same rule for building quality wheels; We are only finished with a wheel when we can’t make it any better. That takes time, and it’s time we are willing to invest.  I hope you’ll be the beneficiary of our passion.
