Tubeless Tape Sucks!

Tubeless tape sucks.  You know it, and we know it. Shall we count the ways? Tubeless tape, 1) almost always leaks, 2) those leaks cause inconsistent tire pressure, 3) shorten the useful life of sealant, and 4) when highly corrosive sealant leaks, it eats aluminum spoke nipple, 5) tape is easily damaged, 6) it adds weight, 7) it’s environmentally unfriendly, 8) it’s no fun to install.

  • Tubeless tape leaks
  • It adds dynamic weight
  • Leaked sealant ruins nipples

All Verum wheels feature what we call TTS (tubeless tape sucks) Tecnology.  Because our rims have no spoke nipple access holes, they don't require tubeless tape.  This offers easier tire installation, more consistent tire pressure, longer lasting sealant, a lighter tubeless wheels system, and better overall wheel longevity.  Wow... that's a mouthfull, but there are just so many benefits.

We failed to patent Verum's TTS Technology... because it's not a technology.  We get it, but it's still a really valuable feature of our rims. Removing tubeless tape from the equation was/is a no brainer. It requires a little extra work up front in order to offer a lifetime of the best wheel performance.  Loading nipples in rims that don’t have access holes is a minor challenge, and does add to labor costs, but it is so worth the extra effort.  While most other wheel brands don’t want to do the extra work, at Verum Velo, we embrace it.  Why? Because tubeless tape sucks!
